Even though solar and wind energy are already wellknown and widespread in Europe and the US, many Dominicans are not familiar with these technologies. We inform our visitors about their function, costs and maintenance in order to make this kind of appliance accessible to the citizens.
Constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment offer many advantages like on-site purification of sewage water and low costs. Thus we provide all information necessary for constructing such a plant.
Bananas have a huge signification for the Dominican Republic as they represent a big share of all exports. Therefore many people, especially those living in the valley of Cibao, where the park is located, depend on the cultivation of bananas. The banana museum is supposed to serve the research about the widespread banana-illness Sigatoka, which is responsible for massive losses in banana-harvest. Furthermore, it preserves the diversity of this plant which is endangered through the cultivation of only one species of banana. It aims to display many different species of bananas including those which are not suitable for exportation.
Dominican Republic hosts a wide variety of plants, many of which can only be found here. On the one hand the nature trail serves to maintain that variety and provides a habitat to these plants. On the other hand it informs the population about different plants and also explains their different uses.
There is also a greenhouse in the park, an organic fertilizer and compost production site and many more things that can improve people's lives by improving their agricultural methods. Unfortunately, our greenhouse was destroyed by a storm. Currently, it is under construction.
